According to Forbes Magazine the highest paid woman athletes in the world goes to the tennis player Maria Sharapova of Russia. She did not earned big money in tennis because of winnings but mostly in endorsements. Here is the complete list of top 10 highest paid woman athletes from July 2010 to July 2011:
- Maria Sharapova of Russia, $25.0 million (tennis)
- Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, $12.5 million (tennis)
- Danica Patrick of United States, $12.0 million (motor racing)
- Venus Williams of United States, $11.5 million (tennis)
- Kim Clijsters of Belgium, $11.0 million (tennis)
- Serena Williams of United States, $10.5 million (tennis)
- Kim Yuna of South Korea, $10.0 million (figure skating)
- Li Na of China, $8.0 million (tennis)
- Ana Ivanovic of Serbia, $6 million (tennis)
- Paula Creamer of United States, $5.5 million (golf)
Take note that 70% of top 10 women highest paid athletes came from tennis sport, one in motor racing, one figure skating and another one in golf.
